ROGER BOWEN INDEX PAGE - - Narsarssuak (BW-1) Air Base

Bluie West One was the best base I was on in the military. I have so many fond memories of that wonderful place as most people stationed there do. I arrived in April 1950 and was assigned to Military Personnel in Headquarters Bldg., typing Special Orders. Later moved to the Message Center (across the hall) which was assigned to the Adjutants Office. Typed Special Orders until S/Sgt "Shaky" Hopkins rotated then was promoted to Message Center Chief. When my 12 month tour was about up, Col. Horne asked if I would extend my tour, which I did, departing in September 1951.
