IKATEK PIER. "Ikateq" is the Inuit word for "shallow water". The boat shown transferred cargo from Coast Guard cutters anchored in the fjord. Approximately 3,000 drums of fuel were left behind by USAF when BE-2 was closed down.

BRENNER'S PEAK, 4,000 feet tall, is the site of the first (only?) ski tow in Greenland. No one gave much thought to broken bones prevalent among novices, available records do not mention injuries.

B-17 MERCY FLIGHT. Ambulance behind radar-equipped Greenland Command B-17 at BE-2 suggests a MEDEVAC mission. Visitors usually wore Class-A uniforms. Residents were always "out of uniform".
